Chemical peels were first introduced in 1903,
and their popularity and effectiveness has grown ever since. Chemical
peels are effective for treating everything from acne to precancerous
lesions and wrinkles. They come in a variety of different strengths
that are specially designed for specific treatments. Bay Oaks
Dermatology offers glycolic (alpha hydroxy acid), salicylic acid
(beta hydroxy acid), and Jessner/TCA peels.
Glycolic Peels
The glycolic peels we offer in house range from 20% strength
to 70% strength. These peels target the epidermal layer of the
skin and are effective at smoothing and evening the skin. They
are especially helpful at reducing and eliminating acne and
fine lines. This peel takes less than 15 minutes to apply and
set.

all exfoliating products except those recommended by the dermatologist
for at least one week prior to treatment.

Q: What should you expect after treatment?

Beta B-Liftx Peel
The beta salicyclic B-Liftx peel is an excellent
exfoliative that improves the appearance of aging, acne and
superficial sun damage. Microcrystals in this peel cover the
face and rid the face of lifeless cells. This process encourages
the growth of new healthy skin cells promoting even skin tones
while diminishing superficial lines. This peel is excellent
for light acne scarring. This peel takes less than 15 minutes
to apply and set. For deeper scars and wrinkles we recommend
the Jessner Peel.

Jessner/TCA Peel
The Jessner/TCA Peel is a powerful peel. In one study its results
were similar to the results achieved by laser resurfacing, and
the Jessner/TCA Peel proved more effective in eliminating pre
cancers than laser resurfacing. The Jessner/TCA Peel penetrates
to the deeper layers of the skin. The top layers of the skin
sluff off allowing new skin to resurface. The face, neck, declotage,
and arms are treatable. It is excellent at eliminating wrinkles.
